Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has been celebrated as a visionary and insightful leader, who has not only succeeded in delivering good governance in Oyo State, but has also stood firmly for the growth of democracy in Nigeria.
The Oyo Youths Engaged for Seyi, otherwise known as OyeSeyi, stated this on Saturday, lauding the governor for his transformation leadership and deep commitment to the continued progress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which has led to the party’s victory over adversaries bent on thwarting the National Convention scheduled to hold in Ibadan between November 15 and 16.
According to the convener of the organisation, Okunrinjeje Abiodun Oni, OyeSeyi feels greatly proud to associate with Governor Makinde at this momentous time in the history of democracy, not only for his insightful leadership, which has seen him deliver landmark infrastructure development but also for his extraordinary courage.
Explaining its mantra, Seyi Makinde: Pride of the West, Hope of the Nation, the OyeSeyi movement said the governor stands out as a numero uno among his peers for his bold governance initiatives, which have seen Oyo State move from being in the backwaters to being one of the most viable states in Nigeria.
A statement released by the OyeSeyi movement read in part: “Today, we stand at the threshold of history to celebrate our Principal, a leader of leaders and an extraordinarily courageous democrat, as he welcomes Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members from all the 36 States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory to Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
“We are quite proud of his antecedents as a democrat and his amazing courage, which has helped steady the ship of our great Party at this time in history.
“We know without equivocation that posterity and history will vindicate Governor Makinde as having championed the cause of democracy and standing firm against the enemies of democracy and politicians without integrity.
“Unlike many of his peers, who ran to take cover at the slightest opportunity, Seyi stood firmly and strongly for our great Party.
“We are not surprised that he and other leaders could pull off this National Convention despite different forces working hard to frustrate the Party, as we know His Excellency’s strong will and unbending resolve towards ensuring that democracy always wins.
“These strong will and courage made us conclude that our Principal, Seyi Makinde, is the Pride of the West and the Hope of the Nation.
“His successes in governance have placed him on the pedestal of great leaders, who came, saw and made a marked difference and they are the reasons we say, without immodesty, that he is a Pride of the West and Hope of the Nation.
