All is set for the ping pong contest among Sports Journalists and On Air Personalities in Ibadan.

The table tennis competition tagged Olusoji/SWAN Table Tennis Tournament is being organised by the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, (SWAN) Oyo State Chapter, with the Chairman of Oyo State Table Tennis Association Mr Tayo Adesoji sponsoring it.

Twenty eight sports journalists and OAPs have registered to compete in the table tennis tournament billed to hold between Friday 18th of September and Saturday 19th of September 2020 at the NUJ Press Centre Iyaganku Ibadan.

Some of the contestants, representing various media outfits in Oyo State, said they are battle ready for the first ever table tennis contest for sports writers and presenters in the City of Warlords.

One of the contestants, Samson Akindele of Fresh FM, who is taking on Oyo SWAN Chairman Niyi Alebiosu of Tribune Newspapers in the opening game of the tournament, vowed to humble his opponent.

“I have been training day and night for this contest. And I will make a mincemeat of Alebiosu. I won’t consider his position as SWAN Chairman”, Akindele boasted.

Responding to Samson Akindele’s brag, Niyi Alebiosu promised to teach his opponent lesson.

“I heard Samson is boasting, I won’t engage him in war of words because I know it’s an empty barrel that makes the loudest noise. I will show him the stuff I am made of when we meet”, Alebiosu said.

Also, Temitope Yusuf of BCOS similarly promised to beat his opponent from 32 FM Paul Alasiri mercilessly, while Haphiz Muhammed Cantona vowed to roast and devour fellow FRCN colleague Sola Ayegbajeje.

The Sponsor of the competition Dr Tayo Adesoji disclosed that he is bankrolling the tournament to promote ping pong game among journalists in Oyo state.

“We’re organising this table tennis tournament to allow sports journalists showcase their talents in the ping pong game”, Dr Adesoji said.

The Sponsor added that he is looking forward to a fun filled and interesting competition.

Meanwhile, the Champion of the Table Tennis Tournament as well as the runner up and third place competitors will go home with fabulous prizes.
