Police Area Commander Hails Hon. Oluokun’s Proactive Approach to Conflict Resolution

The Area Commander of Police, Oyo Area Command, has commended the Executive Chairman of Òyó East Local Government, Hon. Oluokun Peter Olusola, for his timely and proactive intervention in preventing a potential farmers–police conflict within the local government area.



 

The commendation came on Monday during a peace meeting convened to address emerging issues that, if left unattended, could have escalated into serious security challenges between farmers and law enforcement operatives.

The meeting was held following the directives of the Òyó East Local Government Chairman, who swiftly moved to ensure dialogue and peaceful resolution in the interest of public safety.

While addressing representatives of the farmers, the Area Commander praised Hon. Oluokun for prioritising peace and adopting a preventive approach to conflict management, especially at a time when the nation is grappling with heightened security concerns. He noted that such proactive leadership at the grassroots level remains crucial to sustaining peace and fostering mutual understanding among stakeholders.

The Area Commander further assured the gathering of the Police Command’s commitment to maintaining cordial relationships with farmers and residents, emphasizing that collaboration and open communication remain key to effective policing and community safety.

In their responses, the farmers’ representatives expressed appreciation to the Area Commander for personally intervening in the matter and for his leadership in ensuring that peace prevailed.

They also commended the Òyó East Local Government Chairman, *Hon. Oluokun Peter Olusola* , for his prompt action and dedication to the welfare and security of the people.

The farmers equally acknowledged the roles played by the Supervisory Councillor for Health, Hon. Kayode, and the Supervisory Councillor for Agriculture, Hon. Azeez Yinusa, who represented the Chairman and actively participated in mediating the discussions that led to the amicable resolution of the issues.

The meeting ended on a positive note, with all parties reaffirming their commitment to peaceful coexistence, cooperation, and continuous engagement to prevent future conflicts within Òyó East Local Government
