A dramatic political realignment has shaken Oyo State as thousands of members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have defected en masse to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oluyole Federal Constituency, throwing the local political landscape into fresh uncertainty.

The high-profile defection, which took place over the weekend, was spearheaded by former PDP chieftain, Otunba Olusina John Ogunsola, who formally welcomed the influx of party stakeholders and loyalists into the ADC fold amid mounting anticipation of his next political move.

The development came as Ogunsola is poised to declare his ambition to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives, with insiders confirming that preparations are already underway for him to obtain the party’s nomination form.

Eyewitnesses described the event as unprecedented, with a massive turnout of defectors openly pledging allegiance to the ADC and expressing confidence in Ogunsola’s leadership.

Many of the new entrants reportedly cited internal crises within the PDP and a growing belief that Ogunsola represents a more unifying and forward-looking figure for the constituency.

Speaking during the reception, several of the defectors hailed Ogunsola as a rallying force capable of restoring political stability and delivering tangible development across Oluyole Federal Constituency.

They described his influence as unmatched, insisting that his entry into the race would significantly reshape the contest.

Political observers, however, stated the mass defection could have far-reaching implications, potentially weakening the PDP’s grassroots structure in the area while boosting the ADC’s chances ahead of the next general elections.
