Ramadan/Easter: Hon Toyin Balogun Distributes Cash, Food Items, Provisions, Hampers to 2000 Households in Ibadan North LG

In keeping with her annual practise which began over 6 years ago, implemented faithfully every year since she started and targeted towards putting smiles on the faces of the most vulnerable demographics, the poorest of the poor and leaders within her local government.

Particularly, given the harsh economic climate in the country, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Hon Toyin Balogun distributed food items, provisions as palliatives, cash and hampers to over 2000 households in Oyo State who are residents of her Local Government; Ibadan North LG in view of the sombre Ramadan  and Easter season.

The sad reality of the times is that the have nots outweigh the areas of surplus .

The tenets of both major religions which incidentally both happen to be observing timelines of worldwide significance ( Ramadan and Lent), apart from having a hallmark of piety and abstention as a form of spiritual discipline also both advocate extending a hand of fellowship via sharing from the little we have with our fellow human beings as a sign of recognition and a mark of respect for our shared humanity.

Incidentally,Hon Balogun believes that whatever resource is bestowed on us by Providence is for the benefit of not just ourselves and our loved ones but also anyone in our vicinity in need of a helping hand, care and  support.

In her words,”We are indeed caretakers of the little resources in our custody and must consider ourselves privileged to be conduit pipes through which Providence reaches out to the less privileged in our midst.”

It’s in the light of the foregoing that the Honorable Commissioner deemed it fit to extend a hand of fellowship to her brothers and sisters from both sides of the aisle.

In her Goodwill message delivered through the Woman Coordinator for Governor’s campaign for the LG; Hon Romoke Kareem, she enjoined citizens not to limit the piety, abstention from excess of any kind, discipline, sharing and caring which characterise this dual season of Ramadan and the Lenten Fast to this season but to let it permeate and characterise our everyday lifestyles.

She also encouraged citizens of her Local government to rally collective prayers in support of all the efforts and plans of His Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde’s government to transform the economy of the state and it’s citizens from Poverty to Prosperity in line with his Omituntun 2.0 Transformative Agenda.
