RAMADAN: MOGAJI (DR.) AKIN FAGBEMI WELCOME MUSLIMS TO THE HOLY MONTH

Mogaji (Dr.) Akin Fagbemi of the Agunleyinju Compound Alekuso, Beere, Ibadan and Executive Chairman, Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA) has expressed delight over the sighting of the crescent moon which signifies the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan worldwide, describing it as a period of dedication and hardwork in keeping faith with one of the five main pillars of Islam, Sawm (Fasting).

Ramadan, which is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting to commemorate the first revelation of the Holy Quran to Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) kick-started today 13th April, 2021.

While fasting from dawn until sunset, Muslims refrain from consuming food, drinking liquids, smoking and engaging in sexual relations.

Dr. Fagbemi implores all Muslim faithfuls to seize the opportunity of the Holy month to offer fervent prayers for the return of peace and tranquillity to the troubled regions of our dear nation.

He further admonishes all Muslims to observe alongside the fasting, other observances in this rare and holy month which include Zakat and Sadaqah (alms giving), Taraweeh prayers, commemorating nights of Al-Qadr, recitation of the Holy Quran and abstaining from all bad deeds and sinful behaviours that may negate the reward of fasting, such as false speech (insulting, backbitting, cursing, lieing etc.) and fighting during and after the month.

Mogaji Akin Fagbemi however prays that Almighty Allah will provide all necessary items that will make this period easy for all Muslims in the face of the prevailing national economic challenges.

He is hopeful that Allah would grant all and sundry the privilege to witness many more in good health and peace of mind.
