The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on Diaspora, Hon. Bolanle Sarumi Aliyu, has admonished Muslim faithful in Oyo State to pray for Allah’s intervention over the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the face of resilient efforts by the state government to halt the disease outbreak.

Hon Sarumi, said the sacred month of Ramadan is a period for Muslims in the state to draw closer to God, stressing on the need for them to make critical behavioural changes during this year’s fast in the face of COVID-19 challenge.

According to the PDP Stalwart, she said, “As Muslim faithful in the state and across the world commence the Ramadan, I urge them to uphold the hallmarks of the period, which includes commitment to family, faith and community.

“I implore our brothers and sisters to adhere to the hygiene and safety precautions to check the spread of COVID-19, including regular handwashing under running water, and use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers; wear facemasks when in public; avoid social gathering of more than 10 persons and as much as is possible, stay at home.

“The period is a time of reflection and dedication to God and as you observe this sacred devotion, remember to pray for peace, unity and progress in Nigeria.”

“I also urge Muslims in Oyo State to pray for the progress of the state even as we ramp up efforts to halt the spread of coronavirus. We should also ask that Almighty Allah continue to direct and guide our Excellency Eng Seyi Makinde and those in positions of authority, including the Covid 19 Task force team so they will continue to do His will.”
