The Federal Government of Nigeria has been advised to regig some of its economic policies to address the untold hardship experienced by the generality of the people particularly the downtrodden.

This advise was given by Dr Prince Oyebade Oyedepo when he featured on a flagship program of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State anchored by an Ace Broadcaster, Mrs Bunmi Babanumi aired last Friday.

The finance expert opined that some of the policies introduced by the Federal Government are copied hook line and sinker from the advanced Countries but not domesticated to our local environment to address our peculiar challenges.

He cited the increase in interest rate to tackle inflation as one of them. According to him, this will rather push the cost of production to increase the more rather than bringing inflation down.

He argued that floating the exchange rate will continue to devalue our local Currency because we are not producing enough for consumption not to talk of exporting it to gain foreign currencies.

The Anti-Corruption Czar submitted that removing petroleum subsidy without fixing infrastructures was not ideal. The sudden removal without adequate planning made the economy to become challenging.

In his words, “the Federal Government formulate policies, controls the security agencies and legislate on matters concerning the Nation hence they are the determinant of the fortune or otherwise of the Country.

He eulogized the Governors in the South West of Nigeria for setting up the local security apparatus in their respective States named Amotekun. He opined that without these local security apparatus, the insecurity of lives and properties would have been precarious.

He advised the Federal Government to grant the State Police as a way out of the massive insecurity confronting us as a Nation.

Dr Oyebade Oyedepo eulogized the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde for establishing Oyo State Anti-Corruption Agency (OYACA) and making it completely independent. He spoke highly of OYACA under the able leadership of Hon. Justice Eni Esan (Rtd) since inception.

According to him, many States in Nigeria have visited and consulted with the Board of OYACA on how they are doing it to record numerous achievements.

The renowned Author and Public Affairs Analyst counselled the Federal Government on how to improve the justice system in the Country. He advised them to create more Courts, employ more Judges and remove the prerogative of mercy granted State Governors and the President to strengthen the judicial system.

According to him, the funds of the judiciary should be placed under front line charge for them to be completely independent of the executive.
