The victims regained their freedom on Friday after spending several weeks in captivity, bringing relief to their families, residents of Oyo State and other Nigerians who had anxiously awaited their safe return.
In a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan, Tommy said Governor Makinde demonstrated exceptional leadership by remaining resolute and committed throughout the period of the victims’ captivity, despite the enormous pressure generated by the unfortunate incident.
”The successful release of our children and their teachers is a moment every resident of Oyo State has been praying for. I congratulate His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, for his unwavering determination and steadfast commitment to ensuring that the victims returned home safely,” he said.
”This achievement reflects the Governor’s compassion, resilience and genuine concern for the safety of the people. His administration never wavered in its resolve to support every lawful effort that eventually secured the freedom of the abducted pupils and teachers,” Tommy added.
The PMS chairman also commended the Nigerian Army, other security agencies, local vigilantes and all stakeholders whose coordinated efforts contributed to the successful rescue operation, describing their dedication as worthy of national commendation.
According to him, the successful rescue should serve as renewed hope that sustained collaboration among government, security agencies and local communities remains the most effective approach to addressing security challenges across the state.
Tommy urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information, stressing that public vigilance and cooperation are essential to sustaining peace and preventing future criminal attacks.
He expressed gratitude that the abducted pupils and teachers had safely reunited with their loved ones and prayed for their complete physical, emotional and psychological recovery as they begin to rebuild their lives after the traumatic experience.
