Former Oyo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Hon. (Mrs) Toyin Balogun, has praised Governor Seyi Makinde for his steadfast leadership contributed in no small measure to the release of the pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area, saying the development reflects the administration’s unwavering commitment to protecting the lives of residents.
Describing the victims’ freedom as a welcome relief, Balogun said families, friends and well-wishers who endured weeks of uncertainty can now heave a sigh of relief, while urging continued support for efforts aimed at strengthening security across the state.
In a statement issued on Friday, she commended Governor Makinde for remaining committed to the arduous process that culminated in the safe release of the abductees, despite the anxiety generated by the unfortunate incident.
”Governor Seyi Makinde has once again demonstrated courage, resilience and unwavering commitment to the welfare and security of the people of Oyo State. I congratulate him on the successful release of the abducted pupils and teachers, and I commend everyone who worked tirelessly to make this possible,” Balogun said.
She also appreciated security agencies and all stakeholders from the different levers of governance whose coordinated efforts contributed to the successful release of the victims, describing the achievement as a product of collaboration and determination.
She noted that the safe return of the abductees should strengthen public confidence in the government’s resolve to protect lives and ensure that children can learn in a safe and secure environment.
Balogun urged residents to remain vigilant and continue partnering with security agencies by providing credible information capable of preventing criminal activities and improving public safety.
She further called for sustained investment in intelligence gathering and community-based security initiatives to forestall future attacks on schools and communities.
The former commissioner expressed optimism that the successful release of the victims would serve as renewed encouragement for government and security agencies to intensify efforts toward eliminating kidnapping and other violent crimes, while ensuring that Oyo State becones a Safe Space where every child and citizen can pursue an education and their livelihoods without fear.
