Residents of Ojongbodu and neighbouring communities in Oyo Township have commended Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for the successful completion of the first phase of the reconstruction of the Ladindin–Iseke–Ojongbodu–Jagun–Olokomeje Road, describing the project as a major infrastructural milestone that has transformed the area.

The commendation was contained in a letter of appreciation jointly signed by the Olodu of Ojongbodu, Oba Olaniyi Adeoye Adegboye III, and members of the community. A copy of the letter was made available to Heritage Echo News on Saturday.

Oba Adegboye described the reconstructed road as one of the most impactful development projects undertaken in the community in decades, noting that it has significantly improved transportation, enhanced the environment and stimulated economic activities.

According to the monarch, the road serves as a strategic link connecting the Ladindin, Iseke, Ojongbodu, Jagun and Olokomeje communities, making movement easier for residents, commuters and businesses.

“We sincerely appreciate Governor Seyi Makinde for fulfilling his promise to reconstruct our major access road. The project has not only improved mobility but has also given our community a new lease of life,” the monarch said.
He recalled that the road was last tarred during his childhood when his father served as the Baale of Ojongbodu, adding that the current reconstruction is the most comprehensive rehabilitation the road has received in many years.
The traditional ruler also acknowledged the contributions of former Oyo Central Senator, Senator Monsurat Olajumoke Sunmonu; the Executive Chairman of Oyo West Local Government, Hon. Akeem Babatunde Salami (Olukitibi); and other stakeholders for facilitating the execution of the project.
He further praised the contractor, Quickborn Nigeria Limited, for delivering a quality project that met modern engineering standards.
Speaking on behalf of residents, Mr. Busari Ismail Bolanle of Ladindin-Ekewa Compound said the reconstruction has restored hope to the communities after decades of neglect.
He noted that the improved road has eased transportation, enhanced accessibility and stimulated commercial activities, while commending Governor Makinde and the contractor for delivering durable infrastructure.
Similarly, Mr. Sulaimon Shittu of Ayekisorun Compound, Apena, Iseke, described Governor Makinde as a leader who honours his promises. He also expressed gratitude to Senator Sunmonu and other stakeholders for supporting the project, adding that the new road has improved the movement of people and goods while boosting local businesses.
Also speaking, Mr. Bolanle Mojeed Agbaje of Ile Baale, Ojongbodu, lauded Governor Makinde, Hon. Akeem Salami, Senator Sunmonu and the Oyo West Local Government Chief of Staff for responding to the community’s long-standing appeal.
He described the reconstruction as the best infrastructure project ever executed in the area by any administration, highlighting the quality of the drainage systems, culverts and asphalt pavement.
The residents unanimously described the project as a major step towards the socio-economic development of Ojongbodu and adjoining communities, while expressing optimism that the remaining phases of the road project would be completed by the state government.
