Residents of Fiditi Town Seek Makinde, Sangodoyin’s Intervention on Deplorable Owode Road

 

Residents of Fiditi Town in Afijio Local Government area of Oyo State have decried the deplorable condition of the major road in the community.

The residents, who spoke with Goalpoacher News on Tuesday, said the bad road being a state road needs urgent attention.

According to them, Owode road  which was formerly known as Ilu Aje road, starts from Methodist Church to Alaafia Oluwa Primary School and link both old Oyo road with New Oyo-Ibadan express road.

A community leader, Prince Adekola Muideen Oyetunde who spoke from the Palace of Onifiditi of Fiditiland said the road is crucial to the economy and the development of the community.

Prince Adekola stated that calls have gone to Governor Seyi Makinde and the state government to assist them in constructing the road for the use of residents.

He said some residents have resorted to self-help in patching the road in the area which hasn’t added value to it until it will be reconstructed.

“I, Prince Adekola Muideen Oyetunde hereby make passionate appeal to our amiable Governor, Seyi Makinde and the Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, Prefesssor Kehinde Sangodoyin to help us with the reconstruction of our major road in this community

“During the dry season, it is even worse. Dusts and sand particles consume the whole area.

“Adults, and children especially, who are exposed to the dust particles all fall sick.

“Eminent personalities live here and they run their businesses here. But the deplorable has affected businesses.

“A former Deputy Speaker and Commissioner, Pekun Oloyede, Chief S.I Ojelabi (a retired School Principal) among others reside in this community.

“They have done their best in terms of making the road motorable.

“We went to the local government office in Ilora, we were told it’s a state road, that’s why we decided to seek Governor Seyi Makinde’s attention, we need your help. The road is just 850 metres, it’s not up to a kilometer.”
