RITUAL KILLINGS:Oyo Govt,Akinyele Leaders Meet,Vow to Tackle Insecurity

 

Oyo state government on Monday called on community and religious leaders in the state to join hands with the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde and security agents in the state, as concerted efforts are being put in place to bring the incessant killing of innocents residents in the state to a permanent halt.

 

This was disclosed by the commissioner for women affairs and social inclusion, Alhaja Fausat Joke Sanni at Akinyele Stakeholders meeting for all elected and appointed officials serving in the present administration.

Alhaja Sanni, said that for the state to put an end to the barbaric act, the community needs to support the government by providing valuable information to the government and relevant authorities in their different localities.

She added that government is about to come up with a measure that would capture the data of everyone in the state to prevent the incessant rape and ritual killing in the state.

In his remark, the convener of the stakeholders meeting, Honourable Kunle Yusuf MON, urged the government to provide adequate security in Akinyele local government.

 

 

The Senior Special Assistant toGovernor Makinde on Sustainable Development Goals added that the spate of insecurity in the local government is becoming worrisome, hence, the need to adopt native intelligence in combating the act of ritual killings in the community.

Hon Yusuf charged the people to report any strange faces loitering the community.

In their separate remarks, the Caretaker Chairmen of Akinyele Central, Hon Taoreed Adedigba, Akinyele South, Hon Kazeem Adekunle and Akinyele East, Hon Muyiwa Ogunrinde  harped on the need to educate the people, noting that enlightenment at the grassroots would reduce the killings in the community. They reiterated their commitments to provide adequate security in their respective council areas.
They commended governor seyi makinde on the ‘Amotekun’ security outfit and urged the governor to cite it headquarters in Akinyele local government.

 

During the meeting, it was revealed that a 52 year old woman survived attacks from suspected rapists, ritualists at her farm along Ajibode area of Akinyele local government.
