Sanda Leekansi: How Hon Sanda Sikiru Oyedele Strengthened Egbeda’s Security Architecture

The security of life and property in a local government has been the paramount or cardinal objective of every serving elected and functional council chairman.

Egbeda local government area of Oyo State is not an exception in this.

The administration of Hon Sanda Sikiru Oyedele on assumption of office in 2019 as Caretaker Chairman in Ajorosun LCDA, Egbeda local government keyed into Governor Seyi Makinde’s security architecture.

Hon Sanda’s pragmatic and tactical approach to solving various security challenges in his LCDA earned him applause and admiration from Governor Seyi Makinde, PDP leaders, community leaders and other stakeholders in the conventional security outfits.

His achievements became reference points for his contemporaries who were serving as caretaker chairmen then. The remarkable feat earned him the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party as the chairmanship candidate for Egbeda Local Government in the 2021 local government elections conducted by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC).

After the conduct of the elections, Hon Sanda Sikiru Oyedele who is politically known as ‘Lajueeee’
tackled the state of insecurity in the council according to his capacity and support from the Governor Seyi Makinde led administration.

It would not be forgotten in a hurry how and its environs were reduced to a mere theatre of war in the past administrations.

Still talking on the importance his administration attached to security, Hon Sanda maintained that

“the truth is that security is paramount, there is no governance without security.

“That is why this administration is investing in security, we are doing everything humanly possible to support the security agencies to carry out their responsibilities”.

What Exactly Did Hon Sanda Sikiru Oyedele Achieve on Security?

1) Purchase of Patrol Van to Divisional Police Headquarter Adelubi Police Station.

2) Purchase al 10 units of TVS motorcycle for the indigenous security outfits, such as Odua Peoples Congress (OPC), Agbekoya, Vigilante VGN among others.

3) Cash Donation for the Reconstruction of burnt Police Station at Alabebe, Monatan Divisional headquarter.

4) Construction of Amotekun Office at Erunmu in Word I of Egbeda LG.

5) Cash donation for the completion of Amotekun Office at Oki Area in Ward 5

6) Provision of Generators sets to the various security Agencies such as Police Station, Amotekun Operation Burst etc

7) Provision of Communication Gadget to the security Agencies within the Local Government.

All these are geared towards enhancing the security of lives and property and to safe guard investments both by individuals and the corporate bodies in Egbeda local government.
