The Okanlomo Oodua and Bada Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving over ₦920.5 billion for strategic road infrastructure projects in Oyo State, describing the intervention as a bold step towards accelerating economic development and improving the living conditions of residents across the state.
In a statement personally signed and made available to journalists on Tuesday, Sanusi, who spoke on behalf of the Grateful Grassroots Voters of Oyo State, said the President’s approval of the projects demonstrates his administration’s commitment to delivering impactful infrastructure that directly benefits ordinary Nigerians.
He described the road projects as a major investment in the future of Oyo State, noting that they would enhance connectivity, facilitate trade, improve the movement of agricultural produce and stimulate socio-economic activities across the state’s geopolitical zones.
According to him, the intervention comes as a huge relief to farmers, traders, transporters and commuters who have for years endured the challenges posed by poor road networks, leading to increased transportation costs, post-harvest losses and limited access to markets and other economic opportunities.
Sanusi said the approved projects, including the dualisation of the Oyo–Ogbomoso–Ilorin Road, the reconstruction of the Iseyin–Eruwa–Agbesi Road, the Ogbomoso–Oko–Ilupu Road, the Idi-Araba–Ayede–Olodo Road, the rehabilitation of the Igbeti Road, the construction of the Igbeti–Soro–Kishi Road and the Badeku–Jaiye Road, would open up rural communities, attract investments and boost commercial activities throughout the state.
He added that beyond improving transportation, the projects would create employment opportunities during and after construction, strengthen security through better accessibility and support the agricultural value chain by easing the movement of goods from farming communities to urban markets.
”The approval of these strategic road projects is far more than an investment in infrastructure; it is an investment in the lives, dreams and future of our people. It is a clear demonstration that this administration is committed to inclusive development and responsive governance,” he said.
Sanusi noted that the projects have rekindled hope among the people of Oyo State, saying they have restored confidence that government can genuinely address the developmental needs of the people through purposeful leadership.
He expressed appreciation on behalf of residents across the state, from Ibadan to Ogbomoso, Oyo, Ibarapa and the Oke-Ogun axis, saying the projects would leave a lasting legacy by connecting communities, strengthening the state’s economy and improving the quality of life of citizens.
While praying for the President’s continued success in office, Sanusi urged Nigerians to support the Tinubu administration in its efforts to deliver the Renewed Hope Agenda, expressing optimism that the approved road projects would significantly contribute to the sustainable development of Oyo State and the nation at large.
