    Scout Association of Nigeria, Oyo Council Calls for Support at 2024 Annual General Meeting

    The Scout Association of Nigeria, Oyo State Council convened its 2024 Annual General Meeting, where State Scout Commissioner Dr. Zack Ekanola emphasized the crucial need for support from government, corporate entities, and individuals. Dr. Ekanola stressed the importance of financial assistance, highlighting the logistical challenges faced by the organization in administering its operations effectively.

    Addressing attendees, including dignitaries and representatives from various uniformed organizations, Dr. Ekanola underscored the role of scouting in shaping the character and mindset of over a hundred thousand youths across Oyo State. He emphasized the Scouts’ commitment to fostering community engagement and service in line with their mission and vision.


    Welcoming guests to the meeting, Mr. Joseph Alajogun, the Oyo State Vice President of The Scout, and a retired Customs officer, expressed gratitude for the presence of all attendees, setting a tone of camaraderie and collaboration.

    During the event, DSC Yahaya Olawale, representing the NSCDC Oyo State Chapter, delivered a lecture on discipline within uniformed organizations. Stressing the importance of discipline as the cornerstone of success, DSC Olawale highlighted various forms of discipline, including self-discipline, task discipline, group discipline, and imposed discipline. He emphasized the role of discipline in promoting competence, synergy, national integration, and peace, urging Scouts to prioritize continual learning and personal development.

    In a show of solidarity, ASP Kehinde Adekoya, representing the Nigerian Police Force, Oyo Command, commended the Scouts for their contributions to maintaining peace and harmony in the state. ASP Adekoya encouraged further collaboration and support to ensure continued progress and prosperity.

    Princess Chinwe Okezie, Assistant Secretary in Oyo State and representing the Nigerian Girls Guide State Commissioner, reiterated the shared values between the Boys Scout and Girls Guide Association, emphasizing their shared motto of “Always prepared.”

    The 2024 Annual General Meeting served as a platform for stakeholders to reaffirm their commitment to the ideals of scouting and explore avenues for enhancing support and collaboration in advancing the organization’s mission across Oyo State.
