The first female Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Distinguished Senator Monsurat Sunmonu has congratulated Governor Seyi Makinde on the conferment of chieftaincy title on him in Ondo State.
Recall that Seyi Makinde was on Friday 10th November installed as the Jagunmolu of Ondo Kingdom in the palace of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo in commemoration of the monarch’s 70th birthday and 17th coronation anniversary.
Monsurat said she was not surprised that such a befitting recognition came the way of Governor Seyi Makinde, noting that over the years, as the number one citizen in the Pacesetter State, he has remained steadfast in fulfilling his electioneering promises especially in the areas of touching the lives of the masses.
According to her, the Governor is committed to uplifting the lives of so many indigent people and development of Oyo State in line with the Sustainable Development Agenda.
“Recently, the Governor announced N25,000 for civil servants and N15,000 for pensioners as wage award for duration of six months. Is this not commendable at this period of economic crisis when others are owing their workers backlog of salary arrears.
“Are you not surprised that the wage bill of workers and gratuities, our Governor keeps embarking on Infrastructure like roads, power project, Light up Oyo Project among others have direct and positive impacts on the masses.
“Oyo State is fortunate to have a large and kind-hearted leader like Seyi who has touched many lives at the helm of affairs at this critical and challenging period.
“I pray that Almighty Allah will continue to strengthen you, guide you and you will continue to fulfill your destiny in the years ahead,” Senator Monsurat stated.
Monsurat Sunmonu, is the first woman to be elected as a Senator in Oyo State in 2015, she represented Oyo Central Senatorial District.
She was among eminent personalities who graced the installation ceremony to honour the Oyo State Governor.
