Stop cursing aspirants opposed to your anointed candidate- Ex-PDP Chair Warns Fayose

Former chairman of Ekiti Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Bola Olu-Ojo has cautioned ex-Governor Ayodele Fayose to desist forthwith from raining curses on aspirants opposing his preferred governorship candidate for the 2022 poll, Chief Bisi Kolawole.

Olu-Ojo, who condemned Fayose’s action in strong terms, urged him to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship, which is devoid of hate speech and rancour in the course of marketing his preferred candidate.

Fayose had in a well-circulated video, which went viral on various social media platforms, invoked curses on aspirants vying PDP ticket during a campaign tour of Ijero Ekiti local government recently.

But reacting to the ex-Governor’s action at his unveiling as the Director General of Wale Aribisala for Governor campaign organisation on Sunday in Ado-Ekiti, Olu-Ojo said he believed that such action will not repeat itself again.

He implored the former Governor to shun politics bitterness and avoid any actions and utterances that could fiercely heat up the polity and cause unimaginable disaffection among PDP members in the state.

He appealed to all aspirants contesting for the party’s ticket to focus on issues while carrying their campaigns, saying the delegates must be free to support the aspirants of their choice during the primary without fear or intimidation.

Olu-Ojo called on party members to unite and support Aribisala to take over the mantle of leadership of the state come 2022, describing the National treasurer of the party as a qualified aspirant who has the charisma and all it takes to lead Ekiti.

Aribisala said he joined the governorship race following appeals from the people of Ekiti to rescue them from the alleged bad leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) government.

He said his quest to become Ekiti Governor was not to enrich his pockets but to better the lives of the downtrodden and provide compass for the unemployed youths and aged who are wondering in the wilderness of difficulties.

Aribisala said he possesses the requisite experience and expertise in taking Ekiti from its parlous state where all indices of growth are in the negative mode to the next level of development, noting that APC has completely lost focus.

He noted that the ruling party lied and deceived voters in Ekiti in 2018 and the country in 2015 and 2019 about bringing change, saying that it has failed to fulfill its electoral promises.
