Stop Maltreating Our Drivers – Tommy Warns

The Chairman Oyo State Park Management System PMS, Alhaji Wasiu Tomiwa Omolewa has issued stern warning to those are have cultivated the habit of maltreating commercial drivers and riders in the state.

Tommy issued the warning on Tuesday at the monthly state meeting of Park Managers at the administrative headquarters, New Garage, Ibadan.

“On Tuesday, we held the monthly General meeting of the Park Management System (PMS), we started by taking the attendance of all the State Executives, Branch Executives and Unit Executives which did not exclude the Executives of the Tricycle Riders (Maruwa) and the Motorcycle riders (Okada), also in attendance were the Erewa Communities in Oyo State and they were ably represented by the Hausawa Community Chief Security Officer, Hausawa Youth Leader and Some Chief of the Seriki Hausawa of Ibadan land.

“Remember I always emphasize on the for peaceful co-existence of everyone living in the Pacesetter State irrespective of tribe or religion and that was what prompted the attendance of the representatives of the Erewa Community representing the 19 Northern States indigenes that are residing in Ibadan and working as transporters, during the meeting.

“I gave strong warning to all Executives that “henceforth no driver whatsoever should be treated badly, that nobody should ever hit a driver for whatever reasons”, I make them understand that the drivers are our source of income, that they are reasons why we are called Executives, they work day and night, during the sunny period, raining period and dead hours of the day to ensure that they are able to meet up with their daily dues, so why can’t we be treating them with utmost respect?

If anyone of the drivers behaves abnormally, the best way is to report such driver rather than hitting him, henceforth anyone caught in the act of maltreating the drivers would be severely dealt with..
Since my inception as the Chairman of the Park Management System (PMS) Oyo State, have made a vow to God almighty that every member of the Transport sector in Oyo State, Old or Young who has contributed in one way or the other to the development of Oyo State through the Transport sector but facing any challenge would not be neglected and would be adequately taking care of, Today one of our elders from Ogbomosho who has worked tirelessly during his youthful period for the transport sector but facing a challenge of just 60,000 Naira to restored his health condition was assisted with a sum of 100,000 and the woman who has been taking care of him was also given a sum of 50,000 Naira to support her trading business, May the almighty God continue to protect our old ones who has done their best for the transport sector in Oyo State.

I also gave a sum of 100,000 Naira to the traders association within our state office to support their efforts in which they have been making in keeping the entire garage clean since my inception in the office.

I thanked his Excellency, Governor Abiodun Oluwaseyi Makinde and the Olubadan of Ibadan Land for creating a conducive environment to operate, I pray the almighty God continue to lead the Governor rightly in piloting the affairs of the Pacesetter State and May God grant our Royal Father the Olubadan of Ibadan Land long life and a peaceful reign.
