The Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) has picked dates to hold the suspended zonal congresses in the South West, North West and North Central.
A letter signed by the duo of National Chairman, Uche Secondus and Secretary, Sen Umar Tsauri, which was addressed to the Chairman, Independent Natonal Electoral Commission(INEC), and dated March 31, 2021, indicated that the zonal congresses will hold on April 10.
While that of the South West will hold in Ibadan, Oyo State that of the North West will hold in Kaduna while that of the North Central will hold in Makurdi, Benue state.
The letter from the PDP headquarters reads: “Please refer to our earlier letter with ref No.PDP/DOM/GF.2/VOL.IM/21-015, in which we informed the Commission(INEC) of the postponement of our planned zonal congresses in North West, South West and North Central.
“We now wish to inform the commission of new dates for the North West, south west and North central zones.”
The letter gave the location and dates for the congresses to include Ibadan for South west, Kaduna for North West and Makurdi for North Central.
It further read: “Please note that all our party’s activities shall be in accordance with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) guidelines on COVID-19 as they concern social/physical distancing if people gathering in one place.”
ANOTHER COURT ACTION AGAINST PDP SOUTH WEST ZONAL CONGRESS IMMINENT IF…
Another court action against the South West Zonal Congress of PDP congress by some group is imminent if the Former Governor of Ekiti State, HE Ayodele Fayose could not secure one of the positions zoned to his state by the Governor Seyi Makinde led leadership of the party, especially the Zonal Publicity Secretary which the former Governor covets so much for his media aide, Lere Olayinka.
A leaked information didn’t exonorate the NWC anyway in the latest efforts to re-negotiate one of the office zoned to Ekiti for Fayose’s media handler. It is hoped it doesn’t happen again, however, it is being rumoured that the Fayose group is again being pushed to go and get a court injunction to stop the South West Congress of the Peoples Democratic Party which the National Working Committee of the party led by Prince Uche Secondus is willing to obey.
The reason for this push is not yet clear but the NWC is not free of the accusations of tampering with the peace within the main opposition party in the South West for reasons that cannot be explained.
Incredibly, the former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Ayodele Fayose and his friend, Dr. Eddy Olafeso are said to have parted ways because the former has embraced peace and is now sourcing for one of the positions zoned to Ekiti State among his people by abandoning the Eddy Olafeso re-election agenda.
