Dr. Debo Akande, DBA, CMGR, FCMI, has articulated a bold and forward-looking five-year vision for Oyo State—one anchored on sustainability, economic growth, and improved quality of life for all residents.
According to him, true system building goes beyond infrastructure; it is about creating a functional ecosystem where policies, people, and opportunities align to deliver lasting prosperity.
He emphasized the need to consolidate on the gains of the current administration by strengthening Agribusiness, expanding industrialization, and deepening international partnerships that attract investment into the state.
Dr. Akande also highlighted environmental sustainability as a critical pillar of his vision. He stressed the urgency of addressing challenges such as waste management, urban flooding, and climate resilience through innovative and community-driven solutions. By promoting cleaner energy alternatives, improving urban planning, and enforcing environmental regulations, Oyo State can position itself as a model for sustainable development.
Furthermore, he underscored the importance of empowering local communities, enhancing job creation, and supporting small and medium-scale enterprises as pathways to raising livelihoods. For him, development must be inclusive, ensuring that both urban and rural populations benefit from government initiatives.
“At the heart of my vision is a people-centered approach where governance delivers measurable impact. We must build systems that outlive administrations and create opportunities for generations to come,” he stated.
With a clear focus on continuity, innovation, and sustainability, Dr. Akande’s vision presents a strategic roadmap for a more prosperous, resilient, and environmentally responsible Oyo State.
