“Tell Ministry of Trade, Commerce And Investment to Publish Result That Produced Iyaloja General” – Market Council Urges Gov Makinde

The Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Market Council, Alhaji Kayode Hamusat has appealed to Governor Seyi Makinde to wade into the issues surrounding who is the Iyaloja General of Oyo State.

Alhaji Hamusat made the appeal on Thursday while addressing newsmen in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

Recall that Governor Seyi spoke on the dispute over the position of Iyaloja-General of Oyo State while hosting government functionaries at his private residence in Ikolaba on Wednesday.

The Governor was quoted to have said,

“Two days ago when I went to break Ramadan fast with Alhaji Hazim Gbolarumi, I’ve not even left there that speculation started spreading that authentic Iyaloja general was there.

“Who is not authentic, who are the people behind fanning disunity among us?

Reacting to Governor Seyi Makinde’s remarks, Alhaji Hamusat appreciated the Governor for the first step taken to address the issue surrounding who is authentic Iyaloja-General of Oyo State.

“We thank His Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde for the first step he took to address the issue of who is the authentic Iyaloja-General of Oyo state.

” We know our Governor as a man who believes in the tenet of rule of law.

“We therefore use this opportunity to appeal to our amiable Governor to order the Ministry of Trade, Commerce and Investment to publish or make public the result of the election held at the state Secretariat between Alhaja Saratu Aduke Konibaje and Princess Nurudeen Abeo.

“The election was monitored by Oyo State Government officials, Alhaja Saratu Aduke Konibaje polled 7 while Princess Nurudeen Abeo came distant second by scoring 2 votes.

” The question we keep asking is that can 2 votes be greater than 7 votes?

We the market leaders have spoken with our votes and the result must be upheld.

“Who is creating division among we market leaders and clusters?

“In 2019, Governor Seyi Makinde won the gubernatorial election but at the Appeal Court, the will of the people was nearly subverted but what did we do? We all went to the streets to warn the Judiciary and the then Federal Government against doing anything contrary to our wish in Oyo State.

“We know our Governor will do the needful, he is the fogbontolu of Oyo State. “
