In Oyo State, development is increasingly measurable, tangible, and directly experienced by citizens. Under the leadership of Honourable Abideen Tokunbo Adeaga, Chairman of the Oyo State Community and Social Development Agency, a coordinated programme of micro-projects has transformed communities across the state, setting a benchmark for practical, inclusive, and results-driven governance.

Implemented under the NG-CARES 1.0 initiative, the projects address critical local needs, ranging from education and healthcare to water supply and road infrastructure.

Rebuilt classrooms now provide safe and conducive learning environments, contributing to higher school enrolment and reducing the number of out-of-school children.

Functional health centres deliver consistent, reliable care, while expanded access to potable water has reduced water-borne illnesses.

Roads, previously impassable during the rainy season, now connect communities to markets, schools, and commercial centres, facilitating both economic activity and social interaction.

The programme’s scope and execution reflect careful planning and strategic intent. Projects were rolled out simultaneously across all local government areas rather than through isolated showcase interventions, reinforcing the principle that credible governance is inclusive.

This approach aligns with Governor Seyi Makinde’s broader Omituntun 2.0 roadmap, which aims to promote sustainable development and long-term resilience throughout the state.

The announcement of the completed projects was made during a technical workshop on NG-CARES 2.0 procedures at the Oyo State House of Chiefs in Ibadan, emphasising implementation, monitoring, and sustainability over ceremony.

Adeaga highlighted that the initiative was designed not merely to relieve immediate hardship but to build lasting capacity within the social and economic structures of the state.

Local council leaders pledged support for continued oversight, ensuring that each intervention remains effective and durable over time.

The results are evident. Residents now experience the tangible benefits of governance: reliable water supply, functional classrooms, accessible healthcare, and improved road networks.

These achievements demonstrate that effective leadership is defined by delivery and accountability rather than by visibility or rhetoric.

Adeaga’s management of the NG-CARES programme represents more than a series of completed projects; it constitutes a model for grassroots development that balances planning, inclusivity, and execution. Across Oyo State, development is no longer abstract.

It is practical, verifiable, and reshaping daily life, providing a clear example of governance that prioritises the needs of citizens and transforms vision into enduring reality.
