“Uphold Tenets of Islam Beyond Ramadan” – Hon Alawode Urges
The Executive Chairman of Ibadan South East Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Oluwole Alawode has enjoined Muslims to uphold the tenets of Islam beyond the period of Ramadan by showing love to one another.
Hon. Alawode said this during year 2025 Ramadan lecture organised by the Muslim Community of Ibadan South East Local Government.


The council boss, who was represented by the Vice Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Teslim Ogundeji, noted that since Islam is a religion that preached peace, Muslim faithfuls should love one another and strengthen their relationships with others irrespective of their beliefs, tribes or culture.
“Ramadan is a period of prayer, thanksgiving, forgiveness and spiritual training; I urge Muslims to avoid acts and things forbidden by Islam during and after the holy month, ‘’ he added.
In his welcome speech, the Chairman of Muslim Community, Mr Isiaka Jabar bamidele commended the Local Government Administration, led by Hon. Alawode, executive and entire members of the muslim community for rallying round to make this year’s programme a success.

Delivering his lecture on the topic, Influenced of Societal and Social Vices on the Youths, Homes and Society at large, the Guest Lecturer, Ustadh Ismail Taiwo, Chief Imam for Oluyole Estate Extension, traced the causes of societal and social vices to poor parental upbringing, lack of education, broken homes, lack of moral values, influence of social media, lack of religious training and many other influences. He said all these bad influences increase crime rates among the youths and lead to unproductivity.
The Islam scholar concluded by imploring the parents, government and society to rise up to their responsibilities by promoting positive values and life skills, teach children their rights and responsibilities, implement effective drug and alcohol prevention programs, reduce poverty and inequality, and promote access to education and employment so that our Youths can become good Ambassadors of their families and great leaders tomorrow.
In her speech, the Head of Local Government Administration for Ibadan South East Local Government, Dr. Agnes Olakunbi Ojo maintained that mothers play crucial role in training youths, serving as primary educators and emotional support systems, instilling values, skills, and preparing them for life. She enjoined mothers to serve as role models to children, demonstrating behaviors, values, and attitudes that children will learn and emulate.
In her own contribution, the Director of Administration and General services, Alhaja Tawakalitu Olufunke Adedotun encouraged Muslim faithfuls to give thanks to Almighty Allah for sparing our lives to witness this year’s Ramadan in good health. She then urged Muslims to use this period of Ramadan to remain steadfast in their daily prayers and extend love and care to their neighbours.
Also at the occasion were the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Kazeem Kareem, Chief Whip of the Legislative arm, Hon. Akeem Alarape, Hon. Kayode Abifarin, Hon. Ojemuyiwa Ojegbola, Hon. Ismael Adebisi, Hon. Yissa Akintola, NULGE Chairman of Ibadan South East Local Government, Comrade Joshua Oluseye Akinola and other Executive members, Acting HLGA for Ibadan South LCDA, Alhaja Folashade Olanrewaju, Director of Education and Social Services, Alhaja Ganiyat Dasola Durodola, Director of Budget Planning, Research and Statistics, Alhaji Sulaimon Aderemi Emiola, Head of Estate, Mr Abass Aderemi Azeez and other staff members.
