VIDEO: Sheriff Adeojo Replicating Makinde’s Agric Revolution in Ido LG

 

 

In his determination to make Ido Local Government the food basket of Oyo State, Hon. Sheriff Adeojo, the Executive Chairman of the Council, has assured farmers across the Council area of his continuous support.

Hon. Adeojo gave this assurance in Ibadan on Wednesday during the distribution of seedlings which include citrus, plantain/banana and vegetable seeds to farmers in collaboration with National Horticultural Research Institute (NIHORT) at the Council Secretariat in order to enhance their productivity.

According to the Council boss, agriculture in Ido Local Government is an integral part of economic development which provides employment for close to 40% of the populace.

“This important sector contributes a lot to the alleviation of hunger and poverty which invariably guarantee food security”, he stated.

He, however, enjoined beneficiaries to make good use of the seeds by following experts’ professional advice as demonstrated by NIHORT Officers so as to get expected result.

Earlier in his opening remarks, Dr. Abayomi Olaniyan, the Executive Director of NIHORT, admonished the beneficiaries to reciprocate the kind gesture of Ido Local Government and NIHORT by ensuring great commitment to agribusiness.

The Executive Director who was represented by Dr. Oluyemisi Adelani, Head of Department of Farming System and Extension expressed her gratitude to the Council boss for his support to NIHORT.

Given vote of thanks, Dr. Funmilayo Olajide-Taiwo, commended the management of Ido Local Government under the able leadership of Hon. Sheriff Adeojo for their support and also assured them of more productive programmes regularly.

Present at the event were Hon. Rafiu Omotoso, Deputy Leader; Members of the Legislative Council; Mr. Christopher Kolade, Director of Agriculture and other Directors as well as community and political leaders.
