World Teachers Day:Makinde’s Investment on Education Aligns With SDG,UNESCO Index- Kunle Yusuff

As  Nigeria joins the rest of the world to mark this year’s World Teachers day, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Makinde on Sustainable Development Goals, Kunle Yusuf MON said the investments of the present administration in Oyo state is in tandem with the SDGs Global Goals Agenda 2030 and UNESCO Index Analysis.

Yusuf stated this while highlighting the contributions of teachers to the development of education sector in Oyo State. His words:

“It may interest you to know that Teachers’ day Held annually on 5 October since 1994, World Teachers’ Day commemorates the anniversary of the adoption of the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers.”

” This Recommendation sets benchmarks regarding the rights and responsibilities of teachers and standards for their initial preparation and further education, recruitment, employment, and teaching and learning conditions.

“The Recommendation concerning the Status of Higher-Education Teaching Personnel was adopted in 1997 to complement the 1966 Recommendation by covering teaching and research personnel in higher education.”

“With the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goal 4 on education, and the dedicated target (SDG 4.c) recognizing teachers as key to the achievement of the Education 2030 agenda, WTD has become the occasion to mark progress and reflect on ways to counter the remaining challenges for the promotion of the teaching profession.”

“World Teachers’ Day is co-convened in partnership with UNICEF, the International Labour Organization and Education International. Since the world Teachers’ day 2020 Theme is “Teachers: Leading in Crisis, remanaging the Future”.

“We all have to value and appreciate all the Educational Stakeholders, particularly the teachers for the willingness in leading efforts to ensure learning never stops during COVID-19 education disruption worldwide.”

Speaking further, Kunle Yusuff said,
“In Oyo State, from Inception of this administration, the Investments on Education has always align with both SDGs Global Goals Agenda 2030 and UNESCO Indexed Analyses. Yes, its obvious that State Universal Basic Education(Subeb)is really working according to the guidelines of (Ubec) and that is why both Basic and Secondary Education in Oyo is on developmental Path.”

“What can we do without Teachers, they are Communicators, Listeners, Engagers, Encouragers, Lifelong Learners and most importantly teachers teachs how best to be Patience in Life.”

“From Sustainable Development Goals Office, Oyo State we are using this moment to appreciate our Teachers for Impacting Knowledge on all of us. Great Teacher’s.” Yusuff concluded.
