‎“You Are Governor, Not God — I Called His Bluff” – Ex-Aide, Wale Ajani Says Makinde Acts Like He Pays Workers’ Children’s School Fees
    ‎
    ‎
    ‎
‎Former Director-General of the Oyo State Government Liaison Offices in Abuja and Lagos, Wale Ajani ‘Shaprapra’, has opened up on the circumstances surrounding his fallout with Governor Seyi Makinde, accusing the governor of arrogance and poor treatment of close associates.
    ‎
‎Speaking during an interview with Fluxi TV, Ajani described the crisis between them as more of a leadership and relationship issue than a disagreement over policy.
    ‎
‎“Sometimes he behaves as if he is the one paying your children’s school fees, Ajani said, alleging that several government appointees had experienced similar tensions due to what he described as the governor’s inability to properly manage loyal supporters.
    ‎
‎Ajani also recounted what he described as one of the most painful moments in their relationship, an incident at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
    ‎
‎According to him, part of his responsibility as Director-General was to receive the governor whenever he visited the Federal Capital Territory.
    ‎
‎“I went to the airport to welcome His Excellency. As he came down from the aircraft, I greeted him, and he ignored me,” Ajani said.
    ‎
‎When asked whether he believed the snub was intentional, Ajani replied emphatically: “Of course, of course, of course. He does that very well.”
    ‎
‎Asked further if he considered Governor Makinde a proud man, Ajani responded by repeating a statement he has become known for: “You are governor, but you are not God. I called his bluff.”
    ‎
‎Ajani has since joined the Accord Party and is expected to contest the Oyo Central Senatorial seat in the 2027 general election.
    ‎
‎The latest interview is likely to deepen the already strained relationship between the two former allies, as Ajani emerges as an opposition voice ahead of the 2027 elections in Oyo State.
