A Statement by Hon. Dare Adeleke on Fayose’s Shameless Interview and Continuous Betrayal of His Party

Watching Ayo Fayose on Seun Akinboloye’s Politics Today on Channels Television Friday evening was like witnessing the delusional dance of an unstable masquerade in a marketplace of absurdity.

Fayose, unsteady and incoherent, rambled aimlessly, making a complete nuisance of himself as he tried to convince viewers he wasn’t a full-blown traitor to the party that made him. If guilt had a smell, Fayose’s performance would have stunk up the homes of viewers across the globe.

Credit must go to the host, Seun Akinboloye, for skillfully cornering Fayose and forcing him to stew in his own duplicity. One can only assume Fayose paid for the hour-long show to advertise his betrayal of the PDP – what a colossal waste of money it turned out to be for him and his sponsors.

Why has Fayose refused to leave the same party he repeatedly described as a “carcass” and “dead entity”? Akinboloye, a thorough professional, kept pressing that question, pushing Fayose into a shameful corner. Eventually, he admitted he was a bitter, disgruntled man, one who betrayed his own party, simply because he didn’t get what he wanted. Like a soldier who repeatedly sells secrets to the enemy and then complains about not getting promoted, Fayose wants rewards from the same party he undermines.

If political parties operated like the military, Fayose would have been court-martialed long ago, hanging in disgrace for his chronic betrayal, lack of decorum, and shameless self-aggrandizement. Instead, Nigerians were subjected to the spectacle of his TV tirade, one marked by delusion, desperation, and disgrace.

    Let’s look at the issues.

Fayose tried to justify his bitterness by citing the planned defection of Senator Biodun Olujinmi, claiming she told him she would be leaving PDP on Monday, as if that was some breaking news. Everyone knows Olujinmi has long fraternized with the APC. Olujinmi, former Deputy Governor Professor Kolapo Olusola Eleka, and others have been collecting monthly allowances from the APC and are now planning to hide under the ADC, a party of no consequence. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

What political value does Eleka offer? A man who ran for governor and couldn’t win his ward in Ikere? He delivered zero seats. Eleka has always been a liability to the PDP, and his exit is being celebrated by a party now unburdened by his weight. Just like his fellow traveler Fayose, Eleka wanted the party structure handed to him on a platter. Unbeknownst to him, we had already seen his defection coming.

Why is Fayose so angry and bitter, as he displayed in that disgraceful interview?

Let’s be clear: This is a man who sold his own son’s House of Representatives ticket for peanuts. He admitted on air that he supported Tinubu simply because he’s his friend and kinsman, as if Nigeria now runs on tribal sentiment and is ruled by clannish association-not merit.
The fact is that Fayose lobbied for control of two local government EXCOs and was rightly denied. If Fayose was truly as politically influential as he claims, he would have moved PDP’s structure in Ekiti to APC or ADC. But not one ward or LGA chairman has followed him.

I assure Fayose, the father and grandfather of betrayal, that the PDP, which he now refers to as “they,” remains strong. We will mobilize true party loyalists, not his ADC-bound jokers like Olujinmi and Ojudu, who will remain irrelevant backbenchers. Let it be known, the PDP will win Ekiti State and I am emphatic about this.

When Seun asked Fayose when he would leave the party, he mumbled and bluffed, offering empty words. He called the PDP a carcass, yet continues to cling to it. Well, the “carcass” has now spat him out. On Saturday, all PDP local government chairmen issued a statement disowning him and condemning his conduct.

Let me end with the powerful words of Seun Akinboloye: “Fury awaits any leader who mocks the bane of the poor.”

Will history ever be kind to such a slippery character as Ayo Fayose? The only way he can salvage what’s left of his discredited reputation is to leave the PDP – NOW!

    Signed,

    Dare Adeleke
    Chairman, PDP Caretaker Committee, Ekiti
