..Commissions 2-Kilometre Bodija Market Road, Names Trailer Park After Ibadan Warlord
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Thursday commissioned the newly completed 2-kilometre Bodija International Market Road, a modern fire service building and an ultra modern car park with shops at the Bodija International Market, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development that supports economic growth, improves livelihoods and safeguards lives and property.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony in Ibadan, the governor described the projects as a testament to the effectiveness of local government administration in Oyo State, noting that they demonstrate the capacity of council authorities to complement the state’s development agenda through impactful projects.
He also named the newly completed trailer park after the late Ibadan warlord, Balogun Oderinlo, in recognition of his sacrifices for Yorubaland.
Governor Makinde commended the Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Seun Olufade, for delivering projects that directly address the needs of traders and residents.
He thanked the people of Oyo State, particularly traders at the Bodija International Market, for their continued support for his administration, urging them to sustain the cooperation and extend the same support to leaders committed to delivering democratic dividends.
Earlier, the Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Seun Olufade, said the projects fulfilled a promise made to residents and traders of Bodija International Market a year ago.
He explained that the road, fire service building and modern car park would ease the movement of goods and people, enhance emergency response and boost commercial activities within one of the country’s busiest markets.
Olufade expressed appreciation to Governor Makinde for his visionary leadership and unwavering support for grassroots development.
He also thanked market leaders, traders, donors and residents for their patience and cooperation during the construction period, urging beneficiaries to take ownership of the facilities by protecting and maintaining them for future generations.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by traditional rulers, political office holders, religious leaders, security agencies, market leaders and members of the Balogun Oderinlo family, who commended the Makinde administration and the Ibadan North Local Government for delivering projects aimed at improving infrastructure and commercial activities in the market.
