Why we are Grading Farm Settlement Roads, Dredging of Rivers in Afijio West– Sunday Akindele

 

The Caretaker Chairman, Afijio West LCDA, Hon Sunday Akindele has explained why his administration has embarked on grading of roads in rural communities, farm settlements and dredging of some rivers in the council area.

 

Hon Akindele stated this in a chat with GOALPOACHER NEWS on Sunday. He said one of the cardinal programmes of His Excellency, Seyi Makinde is agriculture, therefore the need to also key into it, since farming takes place mostly in the rural communities.

 

Hon Akindele noted that residents of communities where the farm settlements are domiciled do find it difficult transporting their farm produce to the city.
He added, “as a responsive administration and demonstrated by our amiable Governor, Seyi Makinde, my duty at the grassroot is to ensure that there is food sufficiency and security as the state is already preparing ahead for post COVID-19.

 

Speaking on the dredging of rivers in his council, Hon Sunday Akindele said
the course of the river in many areas are blocked by developers in violation of extant town planning regulations which permit not less than 15 metres set back from the course of the river before commencement of development, while indiscriminate dumping of wastes by the residents hampers the free flow of the rivers.

 

A resident Mathew Fakorede thanked governor Makinde and Hon Sunday for the development being witnessed by the council prayed for the success of the present administration in the state.

 

Some of the roads graded include:
Sabo to Deeper Life Camp, Oba Oparinde Market,Oja-Oke, Ilora, Alamo Orita Aanu roads, Odo Itosi through Ilu Aje to Aje Akinbola road and the dredging of river at Grace Poly area, Alamo road.
