A helping hand offered by the governor of Oyo State, Eng Seyi Makinde, to his immediate past predecessor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, who is hospitalised and in critical condition on account of Coronavirus infection, has been rejected by the family. Governor Makinde, has been informed that his predecessor’s health has, for weeks, been seriously challenged, the latter having been diagnosed with the deadly virus.

Source told Exclusive Press that Makinde has been reaching out personally and through his aides to his Lagos State counterpart, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to check on Ajimobi with whom he was in the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) in 2007. It was gathered that the Oyo State government has also been in contact with its Lagos counterpart through his Special Adviser on Political Affairs and Strategy, Hon Babs Oduyoye, who it was learnt, has telephone conversation with Lagos Deputy Governor, Femi Hazat.

EP scooped that the Ajimobi Family, however totally rejected the offer to help from the Oyo State government, feigning that all was well with breadwinner. The rejection was said to have been communicated to the Lagos state government officials by the Ajimobi’s family. Makinde was said to have resorted to going through the Lagos state governor after Ajimobi’s wife, Florence, did not answer calls put to her phone by the governor and officials of the Oyo State government.

Several online newspapers had reported how doctors at the First Cardiology Hospital in Ikoyi, of the former governor consequent upon which he was put on a ventilator. This newspaper gathered that the Deputy National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), before he contracted the virus, was hypertensive. Ajimobi’s wife, Florence, who was earlier ill, is said to be ‘recuperating well’ and has been attending to issues around her husband’s condition. It was, however, gathered that neither Ajimobi family nor his close associates have been able to have access to him since he was rushed to the hospital.

Meanwhile, the United Kingdom chapter of the APC has sent a get-well message to the Ajimobi family and wished the former governor a speedy recovery. In the message posted on its verified twitter handle@APCUKKindom, the party group said, “We’ll continue praying for your good health and speedy recovery. As each day passes, you’re one closer to a complete recovery. Sending you healthy thoughts and wishes for the fastest recovery”, APC UK. The message, which was posted on June 7 at 10:49pm, was accompanied by a video of the former governor with a get-well soon message.

Meanwhile, Senators, House of Representatives as well as house of assembly members from Oyo APC have variously engaged the services of Christian and Muslim prayer worriors to pray their leader out of Coma. The APC lawmakers are worried that they could not go to visit their leader and thus resorted to engaging spiritual men and women to seek God’s face for mercy for their beloved leader
