The Civil Society Coalition for Humanitarian and Empowerment Initiative (CSCHEI) has commended President Bola Tinubu for signing the bill establishing Ogoni University in Rivers State into law.

The commendation was contained in a press statement issued and signed in Abuja on Tuesday and made available to newsmen by its Director-General, Kunle Yusuff, MON.

According to Yusuff, he described the singular act demonstrated by President Tinubu as in-depth understanding of conflict, crisis, and negotiation management strategies which will lead to the clean up of Ogoni land.

    The statement reads:

“As an organization that coordinates and promotes civil society organizations, community-based organizations, and non-governmental organizations, we recognize the significance of this milestone in enhancing socio-economic development, capacity building, and literacy in the Ogoni community.

“This singular act demonstrates President Tinubu’s in-depth understanding of conflict, crisis, and negotiation management strategies.

” I urge all civil society organizations, community-based organizations, and non-governmental organizations in Rivers State, particularly in the Ogoni environment, to collaborate with the government and community members to ensure a seamless process.

“Furthermore, we appeal to the National Assembly to expedite action on their oversight responsibilities to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. We appreciate President Tinubu’s efforts and acknowledge that the policies, programs, and projects of the present administration align with the United Nations’ Global Agenda 2030 and Climate Action concepts.”
