In a decisive court ruling, the legitimacy of the recently concluded Peoples Democratic Party, PDP local government congress was reaffirmed, dismissing any claims of an injunction as baseless.

The court directed substituted service of the originating summons on respondents in Abuja and upheld the status quo regarding the congress, which has already taken place.

Key points from the ruling include that no injunction was granted, the status quo refers to the completion of the congress, and the court’s order cannot invalidate an act that has already been concluded.

This ruling came on the heels of the successful Ekiti State PDP Local Government Congress, held on May 7, 2025. The PDP Caretaker Committee (CTC) in Ekiti expressed gratitude to the National Working Committee (NWC) for their support in ensuring a smooth process.

CTC Chairman Hon. Dare Adeleke highlighted the contributions of the Electoral Panel, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and various security agencies in facilitating a hitch-free congress.

Adeleke commended the efforts of the committee led by Dr. Eddy Olafeso and noted that the congress was completed without any issues.

He emphasized the unity and commitment of party members, stating that the successful congress demonstrates the PDP’s dedication to its goals and future electoral success.
“It is disappointing that some individuals resorted to fabricating claims of an injunction in a desperate attempt to undermine our progress. Such deceitful actions reflect poorly on their integrity and commitment to the party’s values. We will not be swayed by these unfounded allegations.”
“In closing, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to both Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State for their unwavering support. We also thank the National Working Committee of the PDP for their continued dedication to the success of our party.”
