Empowerment:Akande-Sadipe Visits UCH Alongside Participants, Facilitators

As part of measures to aid the effectiveness of the ongoing 5-day training program for traditional birth attendants, the Chairman, Diaspora Committee, and Representative, Oluyole Federal Constituency, Hon. Tolulope Akande Sadipe has visited the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan, alongside the participants and facilitators.

The excursion to UCH on Saturday, October 3rd, 2020, was in line with the schedule of the training and empowerment program which is being facilitated by Hon. Tolu Sadipe, in partnership with Gio-Bisiano Nigeria Limited, and Nigerian Institute for Oceanography and Marine Research.

The purpose of the field trip to the Maternity Department, UCH, Ibadan, was to expose participants to the practical experience of the professional practices of handling the birthing process.

As earlier reported, the participants would be equipped with the necessary facilities needed for them to have a professional practice after the training program.

Speaking to the participants, Hon. Tolu Akande Sadipe implored them to ensure they don’t sell whatever equipment that would be given to them in the course of the empowerment program. Also, they should always remember to collaborate with other professional practitioners in the field, whenever there are emergencies that are beyond their capacity.

While appreciating the opportunity given to Gio-Bisiano Nigeria Limited to serve as the Consultant in charge of the procurement of pieces of equipment among other things, Mr. Joe Nwodo promised to ensure that the equipment that would be made available to participants are of the best quality, and also ensure to provide whatever necessary facilities needed for the participants to have the best learning experience and professional practice after the training program.

The Public Relations Officer, UCH, Mr. Toye Akinrinola, urged participants to be focused and not to be far away from UCH whenever they are in need of helping hands, for safe practices.

The training and empowerment program for youth women and traditional birth attendants in Oluyole Federal Constituency commenced on Wednesday, 30th September and would be concluded tomorrow Sunday, 4th October 2020.
