The Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit, yesterday, arrested five officials of the Lagos State Mobile Court for allegedly extorting money from motorists.
It was gathered that the officials had paraded themselves as personnel of the Lagos State Task Force on Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences.
The arrested officials who had written on their vehicles ‘task force’ and always moved in convoy, on Tuesday illegally arrested a motorist, Clara Oguguo, in the Ikeja area of the state for allegedly not wearing a face mask.
The victim alerted the IG Monitoring Unit
after the officials impounded her vehicle and extorted the sum of ten thousand Naira from her.
Upon the tip off, the offending personnel were arrested by the IG Monitoring Unit.
