‎A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State and governorship aspirant, Ambassador Abdulsabur Abiola Olawore, has dismissed speculations about a possible impeachment of Governor Seyi Makinde, describing such a move as unrealistic given the governor’s widespread support among the people.

‎Olawore, who has expressed interest in succeeding Makinde in 2027, said the governor continues to enjoy the trust and loyalty of residents across the state.

‎He noted that this level of acceptance makes any attempt to remove the governor from office before the end of his tenure impossible.

‎He described as unfortunate the claims by certain individuals or groups suggesting that the administration could be cut short before its constitutional expiration on May 29, 2027.

‎According to him, the achievements of the current administration in delivering good governance have earned it the backing of the people across religious, ethnic and social divides.

‎He added that the performance of the government in key sectors has further strengthened public confidence, leaving little room for any serious opposition capable of pushing through an impeachment process.

‎“The governor has continued to justify the mandate given to him by the people through impactful governance and inclusive leadership. It is therefore inconceivable that anyone would think an impeachment move could succeed under the current circumstances,” Olawore said.

‎He stressed that Governor Makinde would complete his tenure and hand over to a worthy successor, adding that continuity in governance should remain a priority beyond 2027.

‎Olawore also cautioned those allegedly behind the impeachment rumours to desist, warning that such actions could create unnecessary political tension in the state.

‎“The people of Oyo State are firmly behind the governor and will continue to support him regardless of any propaganda.

” Any attempt to distract this administration from its focus will not only fail but will also be resisted by the good people of the state,” he added.
