JUST IN: Afijio Legislative Council Reinstates Suspended Vice-Chairman, 3 Councilors

 

Afijio Legislative Council has reinstated the suspended Vice-Chairman, Hon (Mrs) Oyebamiji Oluwatoyin Abiona alongside three councilors.

The decision to reinstate Mrs Abiona and the three suspended councillors was taken on 5th October, 2023 following the resolution of the legislative council.

Goalpoacher News had in September, 2023 reported that the Vice-chairman and three councilors were suspended indefinitely for various offences.

The letter for the reinstatement was read on the floor by the Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon Ajao Amos Oladapo.

On their part, the Deputy Leader, Hon Olasunkanmi Femi posited that following several interventions from different stakeholders and since the suspended councilors have realized and admitted their errors, they should be pardoned in the interest of peace and harmony.

Hon Alaka Wasiu appreciated the House Leader and other Honourable members for the show of love and cooperation.

According to him, the aggrieved parties had since submitted letters to the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters as well as the Oyo State House of Assembly but noted that the Legislative Council should temper justice with mercy and allow the suspended councilors to be reinstated.

The resolution read that: “the Vice-chairman who doubles as the Political Head for Afijio West Local Council Development Area, Hon (Mrs) Oluwatoyin Abiona be reinstated and all her entitlements be paid with immediate effect.”

“That Hon Oguntoyinbo Tope John representing (ward 7 Awe), Hon Ajayi Sunday representing (ward 2 Ilora) and Hon Adebunmi Babatunde representing (ward 3 Akinmorin and Jobele) be reinstated and all their entitlements be paid with immediate effect.

The leader of the Legislative Council, Hon Ajao Amos Oladapo on behalf of the hallowed chamber, appreciated the Clerk of the House, Mr Omotosho D.A for his support, cooperation for the growth and development of Afijio Local Government.

In his response, the Clerk lauded and eulogized the Leader and other councilors their patience and maturity displayed in the discharge of their primary assignment.

He assured that the management would not relent in its to ensure development in Afijio Local Government.

Hon Alaka Wasiu representing ward 4 moved the motion for adjournment that the House would reconvene on 26th October, 2023 by 10am, the motion was seconded by Hon Akinola Abiodun.
