The Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State has issued a directive reinstating all the former executive members of the party elected at ward and local government congresses conducted by the party in 2017.
Recall in 2018, some aggrieved members of the party led by former Governor Rasheed Ladoja left the former opposition party to African Democratic Party. Some of the exco members left the party with Ladoja.
The former PDP members later returned to the ruling party after the inauguration of Governor Seyi Makinde in 2019. Their reinstatement has crisis among party members who replaced the former excos.
Their reinstatement was contained In a circular issued on Thursday by the party’s scribe in Oyo State. The circular reads:
To All Oyo State PDP Members:
Sequel to the directive of His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde, I want to once again announce the reinstatement of all executives to their positions.
You will recall that this directive has been passed before but we noticed non-compliance in some of our local governments chapters.
In the spirit of unity, love and togetherness and after due consultation with necessary stakeholders, all of our executives who decamped to either ADC, ADP, ZLP and other parties who have returned into the party should be reinstated and returned back into the positions they were before they decamped.
I want to plead with our members, stakeholders and political gladiators to carry out this directive with love, peace and respect to the party authorities.
We enjoin our leaders in all local government to ensure that our members continue to remain peaceful and our meetings remain rancor free as the leadership of the party will not tolerate any form of insubordination or violence
