The Oyo State Police Command on Thursday confirmed the abduction of popular philanthropist, Oloye Benedict Akika, an ally of Governor Seyi Makinde.
Akika, a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, was reportedly kidnapped on Wednesday night at his home in Lagelu Local Government Area’s Olorunda Aba neighborhood.
An unidentified person was reportedly shot dead by the gunmen but the Police couldn’t confirm it.
Adewale Osifeso, a spokesman for Oyo Police, confirmed the abduction and stated that an inquiry has been launched.
“An investigation into the matter has begun.
“Please note that updates will be given when appropriate.”
