As preparation ahead of next year’s local government election in Oyo state draws near, a group of elite community traditional chiefs otherwise known as the G18 Baales have paid the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Local Government Chairmanship candidate in Oluyole, Akeem Olatunji a visit to further plan ahead.

Similarly, former Oyo state Commissioners for Environment and Industries respectively, Honourables Jide Adewale and Ayuba Balogun as well as ex state assembly lawmaker, Hon Lukman Salau, former Special Adviser to Governor Abiola Ajimobi, Engr Shola Shofowora and other notable political leaders in Oluyole have also visited Olatunji at his Sanyo private residence in Ibadan to assure him of their unwavering support ahead of 2024 council poll in the state.

Oloye Kabiru Olajide, Baale of Aiyegun Oleyo, who led the G18 Baales to Olatunji’s private residence on Wednesday, October 25 said the former PDP Spokesman in Oyo state remains a pride of the local government and would not struggle to enjoy maximum political support and cooperation at the grassroots whenever needed.

He explained that the visit of the Baales to Olatunji’s private residence was a clear demonstration of open support for his candidature in the coming election and to fully identify with him as their own political project in Oluyole while expressing appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde and the PDP leadership for Olatunji’s candidature.

Other members of the G18 Oluyole Progressives Baales who visited Olatunji at his residence include: Baale Omititun, Baale Anlamole, Baale ABA OPA, Baale Okeseyin, Baale Akobi Elemu, Baale Ikija, Baale Odo ONA kekere, Baale Aba Ode, Baale Babalola, Baale Sokelu, Baale Odo ONA nla, Baale Lawande, Baale Lanioka, Baale Onikeke, and Baale Ojelade.

Also, other PDP leaders who alongside former Commissioners and state lawmaker visited Olatunji’s residence are: Alhaji Saka Eba, Chief DG Olanrewaju, Hon Fatai Ogunrin, Mogaji Akeem Aiyelagbe, Hon Nasiru, Alhaji Afobaje, Elder Sola Abogunloko, Madam Salako, Alhaja Hawawu, Alhaji Kobomoje, Architect Salam Azeez, Hon Abel Alagbe, and
    Pastor Agbaje.

In his remarks, Olatunji, who was overwhelmed by the show of support expressed gratitude to his guests while thanking Governor Seyi Makinde for the confidence reposed in him with the PDP chairmanship ticket assuring that, if elected, his administration would be a replica of the governor’s all inclusive and open-door policy that guarantee equitable distribution of the local government’s resources across the 10 wards in Oluyole.

“I must confess I’m short for words with this huge show of love and support for me and for governor Seyi Makinde’s confidence in me and I assure you all that I will do my best to replicate GSM’s Sustainable Development Agenda at the grassroots for even spread of physical development as clearly evident at the state level.” Olatunji assured the G18 Baales.

While addressing the former Commissioners, state lawmaker, former Special Adviser to the Governor and other PDP leaders during their visit, Olatunji said: “your support and direct involvement in my candidature as the PDP chairmanship candidate for the 2024 local government election means so much more than I can ever be able to measure. I do not take this for granted.

“You’re our leaders who have been there before and ahead of us, you’ve contributed immensely to the development of Oyo state and left legacies of impactful policies and programs that we that are behind you are working hard to sustain. All I can say is that if elected by God’s grace, it will surely be a government of the people of Oluyole, by the people of Oluyole and for the people of Oluyole.” Olatunji assured.

Meanwhile, Olatunji also noted that Governor Makinde’s political ally, Otunba Seye Famojuro has been a huge pillar of support and inspiration to his political journey and vowed to make him proud by also impacting lives at the grassroots positively.
