Makinde Swears in New Permanent Secretaries,Justice,Says His Administration is Gender-Sensitive

 

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde says his administration is gender sensitive and doesn’t discriminate against anyone.
The Governor stated this at the swearing in ceremony for the newly muted permanent secretaries, held at the Government House, Agodi, Ibadan.

Makinde said, “I think we should be applauded for actually being gender sensitive, we don’t discriminate, if you earn your position and you put in your hard work, there is no glass ceiling in Oyo state as far as gender is concerned.”

“Also,out o the three of you, I know one of you personally,the other two, we have just met in the course our work,so what that means to me is that knowing me personally shouldn’t be a barrier to the position that you earned and even if you are not known to me personally, it shouldn’t be a barrier to the position you just attained.”
“I want to say you earn this position by your dedication and commitment in your various work of environment, you have paid your due over the years,that’s why you are being sworn in today.”
“As an administration, we will try our best to motivate the workforce so that we deliver on our mandate to the people of Oyo state,I never asked about the political affiliations of the new permanent secretaries, what matters to me is that you are from Oyo State and you have served diligently to merit your positions.”

In similar vein, Governor Makinde also inaugurated the board of Oyo State Civil Service Commission, the Governor restated his position that he doesn’t entertain any doubt in that the chairman and board members have the capacity, competence and will carry out the necessary reforms in Oyo State Civil Service.
Makinde said, “also, when we came in,of course I have had several discussions with the Head of Service, they way promotions were being handled welfare of Civil Servants, I know that yesterday, I signed a file to upgrade the Simone Adebo Learning Centre.”
“For us to reform the Civil Service,we have to put in quite a bit in terms of training and retraining of civil servants, this is one area you can make your mark by making sure that we push our agenda to bring knowledge to the Civil Service.”

Makinde however said one aspect that could serve as disservice to ourselves is the issue of E-Governance. He said, the state can put up the infrastructure in place for E-Governance but if we don’t have the people that will actually guide it,we have to reduce the paper works, we will have to get our governance structured to go digital.

In her remark, the Permanent Secretary, School Administration Eruwa,Mrs Moradeyo Olufunmi Foluke who spoke on behalf of others said much should be expected from her in the administration of schools, noting that she would be ready to serve where ever are service is needed. She promised to work assiduously to help reduce the menace of out of school children

On his part, the Chairman, Oyo State Civil Service Commission, Alhaji Karmorudeen Abiodun Aderibigbe,described the civil service as a statutory commission which is guided by rules and regulations. He said the commission would complement the good things the government has started. He equally promised to improve the welfare of civil servants in the state.

The newly sworn-in Permanent Secretaries are: Foluke Oyediran as Permanent Secretary, Oyo State House of Assembly, Mrs Adenike Olufadewa,Permanent Secretary and clerk Oyo State House of Assembly while Mrs Moradeyo Olufemi,Permanent secretary, School Administration, Eruwa.

Governor Seyi Makinde earlier sworn-in Justice Aderonke Aderemi as the President Oyo State Customary Court of Appeal. The Governor said her appointment was approved based on the recommendation of the National Judicial Council and ratified by the Oyo State House of Assembly.
