The NYC disclosed that the move will assist the security agency to rise to the occasion to address issues of security challenges in the state.
The NYC team led by its Chairman, Com. Abdulfatai Adeyemi (Legacy) gave the assurance during a courtesy visit to the office of the Oyo State Commissioner Of police Of Police, Nwachuckwu Enwonwu at the Police Headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan.
Comrade Adeyemi, while expressing concern over rampaging issues of rape and murder in Oyo State particularly in Akinyele Local Government, implored the Commissioner of Police to work harder to stop the trend.
Legacy assured the Commissioner of Police of the readiness of Nigerian youths in the state to give necessary support to the police to perform their duties effectively.
According to him, “we want to charge the security agencies to stand upright to the task they are saddled with, task that people expected of them and mostly to urge the Commissioner Of Police to increase efforts to curtail the unbearable scourge of rapes and murder of innocent souls rampaging in Oyo state and specifically in Akinyele local government Area of the state.
Comrade Adeyemi expressed that the Congress will embark on sensitization and orientation programmes across all the 33 local government areas in the state to enhance positive thinking and traits that are more acceptable among youths.
While commending the efforts of the Commissioner of Police and his men to ensure crime free and safe environment, Comrade Adeyemi implored the Commissioner to reach out to Divisional Police Officers and Area Commanders and their men to tread softly with youths especially as regards illegal arrest, detention and arraignment.
“I want to, on behalf of Nigerian youths appreciate the efforts of the Nigerian Police Force in Oyo State for being proactive to security challenges in the state. I want to appeal to them to do more and make sure that the culprits are all brought to book in due course,” Comrade Adeyemi stated.
In his response, the Commissioner Of Police, Nwachuckwu Enwonwu commended the leadership of the NYC for its concerns and effort towards the security situation in the state.
urged the Congress to completely partner with the Nigerian Police to fight against all forms of crimes in the state.
CP Enwonwu also enjoined the youths to abstain from whatever can harm or bring about disrespect to them and even the Congress as a body.
Also in the team of the Nigerian Youths Congress was the State Secretary, Comrade Nurudeen Adebimpe (CYRIL).
