The Oyo State Deputy Woman Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mrs Fatima Hassan, has called on party leaders and members across the state to remain loyal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling party as preparations gradually gather momentum for the 2027 general election.

In an open appeal addressed to APC leaders and loyal members in Oyo State, Hassan urged party stakeholders to place the interest of the party above personal ambitions, warning against actions capable of undermining the APC’s unity ahead of the next electoral cycle.

She said the appeal reflected the sentiments of thousands of loyal grassroots members who had remained committed to the party through difficult political periods.

“As 2027 draws closer, this is a sincere appeal from the hearts of thousands of loyal APC grassroots members across Oyo State. Please, do not betray President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Do not betray our great party, the APC.“

Do not betray the sacrifices of the ordinary men, women and youths who stood under the scorching sun and in the rain to campaign, defend our votes and keep hope alive when victory seemed impossible,” she stated.

Hassan recalled the contributions of party supporters during the 2019 and 2023 elections, saying grassroots members invested their time, energy and personal resources to secure electoral victories for the APC.

According to her, many loyal members now feel disappointed that some beneficiaries of their support had failed to meet expectations after assuming leadership positions.

“The grassroots carried the burden in 2019 and again in 2023. We knocked on doors, attended meetings, spent our personal resources and remained steadfast because we believed in the future of our party.“

“We gave our strength, our time and our voices, expecting that those elected and those entrusted with leadership would remember the people who stood by them,” she said.

Hassan added: “Sadly, many grassroots supporters feel disappointed because several of those who benefited from our loyalty did not fulfil the hopes and promises placed upon them. This experience must not be repeated in 2027.”

The APC chieftain maintained that many grassroots members believed President Tinubu had remained committed to implementing his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and advancing national development.

She, therefore, appealed to party leaders in Oyo State to unite behind the President and support all APC candidates who emerge through the party’s nomination processes in 2027.

“Many grassroots members believe that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has continued to pursue the Renewed Hope Agenda and has remained committed to national development.“

“For this reason, we urge every APC leader in Oyo State to stand firmly with the President, protect the unity of our party and wholeheartedly support the APC’s duly nominated candidates in 2027,” Hassan said.

She stressed that the forthcoming election should not be viewed as a contest driven by individual interests, insisting that party cohesion would be essential to the APC’s electoral fortunes in the state.

“This election is bigger than any individual. Personal ambition must never be allowed to destroy the future of our party.“

“History will remember those who stood with the APC in its defining moment, just as it will remember those who chose division over unity,” she said.

Hassan also urged grassroots members to remain vigilant and continue supporting leaders committed to strengthening the APC rather than pursuing divisive interests.

“Let us remain vigilant. Let us support leaders who remain faithful to the APC and work tirelessly for its success.“

“Let us reject actions that weaken our party and divide our members. Our votes, our commitment and our unity are our greatest strength,” she said.

Expressing confidence in the party’s prospects, Hassan said a united APC would be well positioned to reclaim power in Oyo State in 2027.

“If we stand together with one heart, one voice and one purpose, no force can stop the APC from reclaiming Oyo State and delivering better leadership to our people.“

“The future of our party is in our hands. Let us choose loyalty over betrayal, unity over division and service over personal interest,” she added.
