Oyo APC holds peaceful LG congresses, sets sights on 2027 landslide
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has stated that it has proved bookmakers wrong with the outcomes of its ward and local government area congresses, which have been widely adjudged as largely peaceful and successful.
Nigerian Tribune reports that the party said the development underscores its resolve to fulfil its promise of recording overwhelming victories in the next general elections.
Following the successful conduct of its congress across the 351 wards in the state last Wednesday, Oyo APC replicated the feat on Saturday as its congresses in all 33 local government areas were held in an atmosphere of peace and harmony.
The exercise produced a new set of executive committee members who will manage the affairs of the party over the next four years.
In a statement issued on Saturday and made available to journalists in Ibadan by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, the party attributed the success of the congresses to a renewed understanding, passion and team spirit among members and leaders, “who have vowed to completely bury their differences and work together as a team to secure all-round victory for the party in future elections, particularly those scheduled for next year.”
The Oyo APC said, “It is a thing of joy for us that all stakeholders embraced the idea of consensus as advanced by the leadership of our great party at the centre.
“This made it imperative for all tendencies to come together and forge a common front in most places.
“However, there were a few cases of disagreement among stakeholders in some areas. In such instances, an ad hoc committee has been constituted to intervene, reconcile the concerned parties and restore peace and unity.
“We are looking forward to March 3, when the state congress will be held. Immediately after that, the new set of executive committee members at all levels across the state will swing into action.
“A rejuvenated Oyo APC is emerging, and very soon the world will see that we mean business. No impediment will be allowed to stand in our way to total victory in 2027 and beyond.”
