Oyo Government Summons Market Leaders on Roadside Trading

The Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Dr. AbdulLateef Idowu Oyeleke has sent a strong warning to all the residents in the State and particularly those who built their houses on waterways or living very close to Riverside areas, to be conscious of heavy downpour imminent in the coming months.

He also charged all the Caretaker Chairmen in the state as the agency in charge had listed some Local Governments Areas that are prone  to impending flood.

All the environmental officers in the Local Governments are to be more alive to their responsibilities and sensitization of residents against the flooding. He also warned residents to leave their houses once they notice the incessant and heavy downpours.

In the same vein, he lamented on the rate of street beggars and destitute taking over some junctions and parks, that in a couple of weeks, permanent solution will be provided for the cleaning up.

On the street trading on our roadsides, the Commissioner reiterated that, Market Leaders across the states have been summoned to give riot act to their members to stop trading at roadsides and after the expiration of the period given to them lapses, all the offenders will be sanctioned by the Task Force Team.
