Oyo State government, on Monday, has commenced the distribution of five Million insecticide-treated nets to people across the 33 local governments of the state.
While monitoring the distribution exercise within Ibadan metropolis, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Mufutau Ayoola, said that the management of the Ministry of Health, was out to monitor the distribution exercise so as to ensure that insecticide mosquito nets are distributed to all the nooks and crannies of the state.
He maintained that the management team of the Ministry has given proper guidelines to those shadowed with the responsibility of distribution to distribute the nets without collecting a single kobo, and to also ensure that the nets are being used as and when due.
He said: “First, we thank His Excellency, the Governor of the state, for flagging off free net distribution last week Wednesday. So, I am here with the management of the Ministry of Health, to ensure that proper things are being carried out.
“We are here on monitoring exercise to ensure that nets distributions are carried out across the nook and crannies of the state. Apart from that, proper guidelines are being given to ensure that people receive the nets without paying a single kobo, and to also ensure that the nets are being used as and when due.
“This is also to ensure proper guidelines, as far as COVID-19 rules are carried out. It is also to make sure that people are … of some diseases that are of public Health Importance. So, that is the purpose of our outing this morning.
“On the response of residents on the collection of these nets, so far so good, people’s cooperation is highly important, and with officers that are engaged, they are complying with rules and regulations. And their level of compliance has been very encouraging.”
“However, we encounter one or two problems that are being sorted out. Not only me but including they participation of all the Directors that are here with them.”
The places visited during the monitoring includes, Oje distribution unit
Ibadan northeast. Oranyan distribution centre
Ibadan South East.
And Agbogbon/ Eleta Ibadan South East.
