Governors of Nigeria’s main opposition party, PDP, are currently in an emergency meeting at the Akwa Ibom State Government Lodge Asokoro, Abuja.
The meeting is believed to be about the leadership tussle of the party, News Direct can report.
The governors currently present includes Govenor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State, Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, Governor Ifeanyi A. Okowa of Delta State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.
Others are, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, Gov Nyesom Ezenwo Wike – CON of Rivers State, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Governor Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi of Enugu State and the host, Governor UDOM Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State.
Recall that a caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party at the House of Representatives had asked Secondus, to “honourably” resign from his position over poor leadership of the party.
At the PDP National Secretariat on Monday, some party members also held placards calling for Secondus’ resignation.
But in a short statement signed by his spokesperson, Ike Abonyi, the PDP Chairman said nothing, so far, warrants his resignation as National Chairman.
