Report reaching Goalpoachernews this morning indicates that suspected herdsmen carried out an attack in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State on Wednesday evening, allegedly killing an elderly woman after sexually assaulting her.
The incident was made public through a live video broadcast on Wednesday night by popular historian Aare Laji Abass.
In the video, one of the deceased woman’s children recounted how the tragic event occurred at Oderemi Village in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo state.
According to the narration, the victim had gone to a nearby bush to gather vegetables when the assailants reportedly accosted her, assaulted her, and killed her.
The deceased Son further stated that during the attack, an officer of the Western Nigeria Security Network, popularly known as Amotekun, sighted the suspects.
Aare Laji Abass also alleged that when the remains of the deceased were taken to Adeoyo Hospital, the hospital demanded a fee of ₦75,000 before accepting the body into its morgue.
He called on the Olubadan of Ibadanland land and Governor of Oyo State to urgently intervene and direct the hospital authorities to take appropriate action.
As of the time of filing this report, security agencies and the Oyo State Government have yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
