President Bola Tinubu on Monday swore in Mr Joseph Tegbe as Minister of Power at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

This follows the resignation of Adebayo Adelabu ahead of the All Progressives Congress’ May 2026 primary elections.

A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the short ceremony took place at the Council Chamber in the presence of the minister’s spouse and senior government officials.

Tegbe, born in Ibadan, Oyo State, brings over 35 years of professional experience across the public and private sectors to one of the most politically sensitive portfolios in the Federal Executive Council.

He holds a First Class degree in Civil Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, a Master of Business Administration from Switzerland, and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Birmingham.
He served as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, where he designed and implemented major presidential reforms and led fiscal policy restructuring at federal and subnational levels.
He has worked with the Nigerian Communications Commission, Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, the Nigeria Revenue Service, Shell, Huawei, General Electric and MTN, among others.
He is also the Director-General and Global Liaison of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership.
