Suspected Kidnappers Arrested in Oyo East as Council Chairman Praises Makinde

 

The monthly security meeting of Oyo East Local Government was held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at the Local Government Secretariat, bringing together key stakeholders and security agencies to review the security situation in the area.

This was as the Executive Chairman of Oyo East Local Government, Hon Peter Oluokun commended Governor Seyi Makinde for prioritizing security of lives and property of the citizens and residents of Oyo State.

During the meeting, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Durbar Division reported the successful apprehension of two suspects allegedly connected to the recent kidnapping of a woman at Alawusan village.

The arrests were made following a series of coordinated operations carried out in collaboration with the Amotekun Corps.

The suspects have since been transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for further investigation.

In his remarks, the Commander of the Agro-Rangers commended the Executive Chairman of Oyo East Local Government, Hon. Oluokun Peter Olusola, for the refurbishment of their operational vehicle, noting that the gesture would enhance their effectiveness in tackling security challenges.

Similarly, the Amotekun Coordinator expressed appreciation to the chairman for the renovation of their office facility. He also provided an update on the Corps’ activities, particularly their efforts in addressing kidnapping and related crimes within the local government.

The representative of the Area Commander, Oyo, lauded all security agencies for their sustained synergy and cooperation, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in maintaining peace and order.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Oluokun Peter Olusola reiterated the commitment of his administration to ensuring the safety of lives and property.

He stressed that all stakeholders must remain vigilant and proactive, adding that collective efforts are necessary to rid the local government of criminal elements, especially kidnappers.

The meeting concluded with a renewed resolve among security agencies and community leaders to strengthen strategies aimed at enhancing security across Oyo East Local Government.
